Catalina 310 Port Hacking
Our 310 broke its mooring in August last year, doing considerable damage. We are just getting her back now, 6 months later.

The only outstanding repair is the fixed port in the rear birth. Our shipwright has not been able to source one locally (Australia) he has contacted Catalina Australia and US with no result.

We would be extremely greatful for any assistance in where we might get a replacement, all the ones we see online are the wrong shape!

I think you need a size 1RE, which means Round End, this place has them, you'll have to call about international shipping.

Here's Lewmar's page,

Actually, I'm having a senior moment, might be size 7RE which is larger, you'll have to check dimensions.
Here's another source for the ports in Calif.

Thanks for the reply, and sites. I was hoping for an aluminum port to match all the others looks like stainless might be an option. I also just heard from Catalina so I'll follow up with them as well.

Not to loudly proclaim my ignorance, but, you have a fixed port in the rear berth? My 2003 does not have one. Is it on the starboard side only? There are lockers on my port side, and the dining table stows on my starboard.

Just curious.
Let us know how it works out for you.

Yes there is a fixed port in the hull on the starboard side of the rear berth on our 310. Our dining table also stores in front of this port when not in use. We also have lockers on the port side of the rear berth.

Our 310 was built late 2000 and arrived in Ausralia in early 2001. Perhaps they deleted the port in later models as they found most people stored the table there.

My 2001 Catalina 310 has a fixed port on the stbd. Side of the aft berth as well (no.139) During a visit to the Largo factory in 2006, a new 310 in production did no have the port light. I asked Warren about it and he did not know when they eliminated it. The new 315 has it. I like it as it provide good natural light and I don't store the big table there anymore

I looked at the 2 310's next to each other at the end of my dock this AM, the 2002 has the port and the 2003 does not. Funny I never noticed before.
Also it looks like the opening ports are size 1RE while the fixed ports are the larger size 7RE.

As Ted reports, the 2003 C310 models ceased to have the fixed port on aft-starboard. I know this because when I purchased I was expecting it (previous C310's had it) but the 2003 model when received in early Nov-2002 did not. Another change that happened about this same time was the change to the refer door; 2003 and beyond have an all fiberglass insulated door to minimize condensation dripping on the floor. Interesting all of the little changes that were made throughout the production run.
Happy Sailing,
Gary
