I am helping my son fit a trailer to his O'Day 240 which draws 2'8". One addition will be a tongue extension. The current tongue is 3.5"dia. Am considering putting a ball 2' from the end of a 12' piece of 3.5" channel. Then putting a clamp on the end to tie it to the trailers tongue. The trailer that he borrowed to put it in the water was for a Hunter 23 which has about the same draft keel. However the trailer was much really light for the job. Its toungue extends 6.5 feet which proved to be a little on the short side even at a steep ramp. Any comment on a 10' extension ? mpm

Tongue Support

If you make a longer extension you might need to arrange a wheel to support the tongue when everthing is extended ( or use the trailerjack wheel if it is large enough to roll down the ramp and not stick on ever little bump). Mark Price S/V Wendy Lee
