Fishing wires in a H260

I noticed today, while running some wires, that there is a blue conduit running from the compression post to the aft of the boat somewhere. (I belive someone may have posted something about this a while back) It has a pilot line in it and I assume it is for running wires, but could not find the aft end on the conduit. I used some wall fishing wire and it sounded as if it got stuck somewhere around or under the starboard hatch over the galley. I called Hunter and they said it should end at the elec. panel. I couldn't find it anywhere. I opened ALL the panels and looked around with a small mirror and found nothing. Can anyone tell me where to find the aft end of this tube? Any hints on how to run wiring from the panel to the top end of the compression post? -Jay

Overhead Conduit

Mine runs from the forward over head opening by the mast support to the small over head opening above the electric panel. It's not easy to see or reach, but it's there. I ran a fish tape down the conduit and had to force it at one point, but it did go through. It isn't a straight shot. Make sure you run another pilot line line. Good Luck

Hi Jay

As you know, I have the H26 but the way I ran the wires was to drop down all the lights in the area and use a fish tape to run between all the openings. I found that this worked well. I also have the wiring tube, but it seems to end too soon and did not run all the way back to the panel. I forgot about using it and ran the wires alone. Hope this is helpful. Bob S/V Gravyboat

Fishin' inside the H-260

I've been fishing wires all winter throughout my H-260 for VHF, 120 volt system, 12 volt outlets etc. My most amazing "catch" was to find that blue conduit over the salon near the compression post since I was unsuccessful in working a fishtape through other areas overhead. As mentioned in an earlier post, I also cut off about 8" of the forward end of the conduit to ease the handling the fishtape. It then fed easily through the conduit when starting it at the overhead inspection port just aft of the compression post. In my boat, I found that the aft end of that blue conduit terminates just forward of the vertical 2" x 5" inspection port next to the galley port. A small mirror inserted there facing forward can show the placement and end of the conduit. The original pilot line was not found at the aft end of the conduit though. Frank had a good point to include another pilot line anytime you pull wire through it. That shortens the next wire fishing trip when installing more "necessities" into that great boat. Good luck, and let us know how it goes.

Got it!

Thanks everyone! I successfully found the aft end of the tube and had to do some jiggling and force to get the opening clear. I ran elec for my VHF and the cable for my remote mic in the cockpit. Everything worked great! I even had time to put a solar vent in the foward hatch.
