My wife bought me a very nice Humminbird fish finder for my birthday. I've read lots of information on the transducer location and think I've got that worked out but I haven't seen anything about where others have mounted the display screen. Is is best to mount it in the cabin or has anyone mounted in the cockpit and if so, where? It came with a display that is removeable from the base so either would probably work.

Display mounting

I mounted my fishfinder display on a RAM swing mount just inside the cabin to starboard. It can be swung out to view in the cockpit or used inside the cabin. Saw the idea on a Catalina 25 and liked it a lot. Also I mounted the tansducer in wax inside the hull as far forward as I could (up under the vee berth) and it works just great. Using wax allows you to move it if you want to and there are no thru-hulls involved.
