i have the FP 12 mini generator on our boat.
my question is... how do you remove the Johnson raw water pump? after replacing the exhaust connector(tough job, even the tech gave up) I've discovered the water seal is leaking on pump, I replaced and still leaking. it has slowed to around 1 drop every 9 seconds but now I'd like to remove the pump and rebuild. the pump seems to have a bolt at top that clamps it to engine but with impossible access to allow a tool to fit? any advice here would be much appreciated.

Craig, I had a mini 6 for 13 years and lived with the issues you are having. I actually carried an entire extra Johnson pump so that when it began weeping, I would install a fresh, rebuilt pump. And yes, I recall that the bolt of which you speak does clamp the pump body so that a gear inside the engine block could drive the pump. However I fortunately had very good access as the generator was under the seat at the chart table on my 44DS. There are tips and tricks on rebuilding the Johnson pump also. If you wish, PM me when you get it off and we can chat.

it's like everytime I need to work on this thing I have to build a special tool to make it fit, just crazy. Germans outsmarting themselves again.
