Has anyone installed a Fischer Panda water cooled gen set in any boat? They are water cooled [both ends] so they can be kept in what looks like a fiberglass suitcase. High speed and very quiet and very expensive. Like to hear anyone's experiences. Thanks, Gerry Hull ACADIA

Shop around....

A friend put an Entec EW-4200 generator (4.2 kW) on her boat and has been very happy with it. The Entec uses the same Farymann diesel engine as the Fischer Panda and is also water cooled and contained within an insulated box. The noise level is 50 Dba at 7 meters which I believe is similar to the Fischer Panda. Price was about $8,000 installed. I have also looked at the Westerbeke which is also using the Farymann engine for a 4.2 kW generator. Good luck and happy sailing, Jeff s/v Suzanne
