Fischer panda generator Question

This sorta defies logic, and regular installation practice

On the genset, FP states to install the electric fuel pump before the filter.
My mechanic says this is wrong, and I tend to agree.
So, irrespective of generator type, does it not make sense to have the primary filter the first element out of the fuel tank??

I have FP 6000. It was installed with the fuel pump pulling fuel through the filter. Racor likes it that way. However, with heavy load the FP would falter as if getting air into the system. Kabota's hate air and do not seem capable of clearing it even with tons of electric priming. My suspicion was/is that it was nearly impossible to purge all of the air out of the filter top and and with high fuel demand, the vacuum setup allowed the air pocket to get into fuel pump. After leak checking lines, replacing filter bodies, replacing fuel pumps, etc, I finally replumbed mine to the pressure set up that you picture above and I have never had a falter after that.

Ok, so I spoke to FP about this.
The current pump that they are using (Facet), actually had a changeable pre-filter in it.
However, the pump that I have, (an older one), does not.
I have very low hours on the genset, my fuel comes from very reliable sources, and the pump is working fine.
So, I have no incentive to rip out a functioning pump, until I feel it is necessary. Yes, I’m running low on projects, but I’ll find something else to modify / fix / replace

If it worky fine, no fixy needed. The lift pump on our Genset (three cylinder Kubota) brings fuel from the engine primary NAPA brand six micron canister filter. We also have a ten micron cartridge Racor filter between the tank and the primary filter. Never had a problem with fuel quality or flow.

I had a similar issue and FP sold me a more powerful pump of the same design which cured the problem. The total run to the pump from the tank was about 8 ft. I suggest you have a chat with them on that pump.

My pump is literally 2 feet from the tank outlet.
So, I can see why I haven’t had any issues,
I’m also finishing the project where the entire filter unit unplugs in 30 seconds, and you don’t spill one drop of fuel when changing the filters.
You simply unplug the whole filter assy, take it off the boat, change the filter, and re-install.

look at my prior posts to see how to set this all up. Amazing upgrade that keeps your bilge 100% dry of diesel fuel when changing filters.
Also makes the job about 5 x quicker.
