I have recently put a deposit down a Beneteau 27, 1980. I am going to see it this weekend in annapolis, md. I do have to replace winches, rigging, etc. While looking for these parts I have not seen the option of a benteau 27. I know the seller is someone who buys boats from banks on liens. Is there or could there be another name for 1980 Beneteau 27? I look forward to talking to someone and thank you for an replies. Jonathan Taylor

First 265?

The First 27
The First 27 is not a First 265. The 265 is a modern boat with a scoop stern and a modern interior. The First 27 is an older design - with a pinched sloped transom and an older style of interior layout. Sometimes you can find a 27 on Yachtworld & see some picts - 265's are more common so it should not be a problem to find those on Yachtworld. Winches and rigging are pretty generic - you won't need "Beneteau" stuff - just correct size and strength parts. Any Chandelery should be able to help on the winches and a rigger on the rigging. Ted Brewer wrote a great article on rigging in one of the recent magazines - either This Old Boat or Boat Works, I don't remember which.
