I can't think of a better way I've ever spent an Easter Sunday! The new genoa, CDI roller furler, genoa tracks work very well! One of the experianced sailors in the boat club here went with us. I let him give my son the basics instead of me as i'm far from very experinced yet. It went well! we actually sailed a reach on the river (lower Delaware River) I was happy just watching the humming bird while the guys had fun sailing. I will say however, a hunter 23 is a small boat when there are 4 people aboard. fair winds! Denise

I'm with ya brother!

Our sailing association had a race management seminar on Saturday and we followed it up with our spring shakedown. We flew a brand new North 3DL main with our re-cut 3DL #1. Whoa what a sweet ride! What a beautiful day! We practiced with the spinnaker and sorted out a couple of new crew positions. All the while, we are buzzing around with some other racers taking advantage of an early April splash. I don't know how we will do this year but it was great getting away from suburbia and back on the water. Unfortunately, the next ride isn't for 2 weeks. But my whistle is wet! Markdb

First Sail on Bayou Grande

First sail since IVAN left Pensacola. New sandbars to watch out for; winds variable to 15 knts; a wild and exciting sail, and best of all a family of porpoises swimming along side. Need to make minor tuning adjustments and other than that some soreness in shoulders and upper arms.

Beat you by about 15 days

Went out with the family (me, wife, 3 kids and a dog) the Saturday before last. Great sail from Bodkin Point down to the Baltimore Light and back. The winds where 5-9 kts relative out of the East making both out and back a reach. Saw several commercial ships stuck in the "big boat chanel" and only one other sailboat. There where several power boats but they where spending $$$$$s getting from A to B at a high rate of speed. I love the Bay in the Spring. The crab-pots have not had a chance to procreate and you have the bay all to yourself. I didn't even have to do maintenance on any of the "nice to have" systems. The refer, pressure water, and engine all worked "out of the box".

Sixth sail yesterday

Denise, I use any excuse I can find to get out there, and have since February. It's been a soggy and long winter here in the NW, but yesterday was my sixth time out this year. This was also my wife's first time out with me since we bought the boat. Went out under mains'l alone since the winds were at 18-22 knots with gusts to 26 knots. Nice and sunny though and she enjoys heeling at 30 degrees (as long as she's not on the tiller!). It seems I have a lot of weather helm, but being a new sailor, I attribute it mostly to the main being up without a headsail. We had 1-3 foot waves and some spray so it was quite the experience. A little scary, but you gotta learn sometime. Happy sailing!
