I am looking at a 1993 Catalina 28. While I wait for the survey could anyone give me information on what I'm looking at here in terms of cost and trouble. There is some leaking from the deck through the chain plate and the jib track. I've posted the pictures under my profile. Right? slight forum learning curve here.

Chainplate leaks, as Don said, should be checked by the surveyor, but if not too bad are easily repaired by a boatowner. The more you do yourself, the more you'll learn about your new boat.

Jib track repairs on Catalinas are pretty easy, too, since access is great.

Once you get to it, if you buy the boat, buy some butyl tape right here from Maine Sail. We'll give you a direct link if you need it.

So Stu, am I to take it you're a fan of butyl tape? Great link to Maine Sail. Very informative. Thank you very much. Looks like I came to the right place.
