PHRF
Well, We could discuss the PHRF ratings of these smaller boats if we were solely interested in racing..or rvrn one design racing (C-22 FLEET 89 Youngstown, NY or FLEET 141 Rochester, NY) so that we aren't competeing against all of these various designs. Although for some it generates a certain amount of intrest and it can even improve their understanding and appreciation of the passtime, I for one didn't go into sailing with the intent of seeing who I can beat across a finish line but if I were looking for a nice compromise in design and comort in a day or maybe an overnighter for two, I think that I'd also recommend (yet again)the Shark as something that I'd look for in a boat for that particular area of the great lakes:http://sailquest.com/shark/line.htm Even if it doesn't meet all of his criteria of something to beach launch. So, I think that the original poster has a type of boat in mind and by now a nice selection of suggestions.
