Just took delivery on a First 285 this weekend and trying to figure everything out.
I brought fuel but was trying to figure out how much it had before I added any more The manual refers to a fuel gauge, telling how to read it by how many "x" (1-5) but it doesn't say where it is.
Feels like a dumb question to start off with but I'm stumped.

I don't remember my manual (what there was of it) mentioning a fuel gauge... Mine is a wooden dowel with hash marks cut into it |, ||, |||, ||||. The tank is about 8 gal., and most fuel consumption numbers that I've heard are about a half gallon per hour. I just had my valves adjust and that seems to have improved, but I don't have a more accurate figure to report yet.

Enjoy! Where are you sailing?
