Hello I am new to the A4 world. I have two questions. The first is simple. I noticed a water hose the other day that looked like some acid drop burning a hole in it, puffy and burnt looking spot. I want to replace it and some other hoses that gave a cracking sound when pressed. 1. Can I replace all the water hoses without worry of the boat flooding from some hose being disconnected? Next When I was bring my new to me boat ( 29ft Islander )home. I put in 3 gal of gas before leaving dock. I was unsure how much was left in by the old owner but I figured about 1-2 gals. So I did not fill up. I was told i'd get about 1 gal per hour of use. I drove for almost 1 hr and the motor died. I thought it was out of gas. Reason: I was going along at a pretty reasonable speed, also perhaps against the current. So I sailed a bit, then put in a little gas I had spared and it started up again. I cut it off to save gas until I got to my marina. There it started with no problem . Next fews time I went out no problem, sounds well everything, but only ran the motor enough to get out of the marina. Until... The other day heading off for a trip with a full tank. I ran under power for again about 1 hr and the motor dies. This time pleanty of gas and will not restart. I sail home. Next day I check all wires, look at the rotor and clean that, clean the points. all seems well.. the motor starts. I'm thinking perhaps the coil. Even though all runs and sounds well. I will replace, coil , plugs, wires. Cap looks new. 2. Is there a coil part number recommended I can get from an Auto parts store? Any other suggestions on the problem? Thanks

Fire N Water - Parts

Zen Napa Auto Parts carries coils, distributers, points, hoses. Not to discount Moyers but sometimes an alternative is needed. Napa has many conversion numbers from many manufactures that have addapted "Atomic 4" or "Universal" to tractor, tug, and other applications (farm and industrial). The motors are still used all over the place!

Thanks guys for your suggestions. There is a Napa Store near me so I will go there for for parts. I checked out Moyer Marine's site and low and behold there were a couple of things there about strange shutdowns. So now I have a couple of ideas to follow and hopefully cure the problem easliy. thx
