Neat job

Was the box standard issue or did you purchase it separately? If separately, from where?

Thanks Bill

No I made it out of marine ply. I then went to the local hardware paint supplier and he had this natty little gissmo that that scanned the colour of the inside of the yacht thus giving him the exact colour match. After building the unit I sanded and sanded until my arms almost fell off. After this I undercoated and applied about eight coats of paint sanding between each one lightly. I must say that I found the best result to get a brush free surface was to use just enough paint each coat to dampen the surface. The first three or four coats looked pretty ordinary but once I got above five coats it really started to look OK. My need was to mount the unit so that wires were hidden and so that it looked like a factory option. I also needed to be able to use the remote from the cockpit and whilst in bed!!

Beautiful installation Mark

Beautiful installation. I sure hope after all that hard work it doesn't get in the way of your table use like mine did. My head hurts just thinking about it. Where are your speakers and where did you run the speaker wire? Brigg

Nice Mark!

Don't you just love all that sanding? What do you mean remote from the bed? Jim S/V Java

Very professional installation, Mark. I am contemplating the installation of both stereo and VHF radio. I have sort of given up on putting where you did although I agree with your reasons - remote from cockpit and other areas. I'm 6'2" tall and need every inch of headroom there is.

Yes I know David for I am over 6'2"

But rarely do I stand on the table :)

Well Jim I'm sure you know what it is like

to be laying back in bed while your beautiful partner laying beside you is snoring away to the beat of the waves gently lapping against the side of the hull. At times like this it's pretty handy to turn up the stereo to douse the snoring without having to get out of bed!
