Still learning boat terminology so be kind. Our 2001 331 has the original teak cabin flooring. Most is in good shape. The areas that are most worn and chipping are the finger holes for lifting up the various sections of floorboard to accesss cavities below them. I’m wondering if I can install metal pull rings (similar to the type for the galley countertop pulls) into those holes? Can I plug them up so to speak with the round pull ring to prevent them from further chipping and use that to lift out the panel or do those holes need to stay open for air flow? Thank you in advance!

:plus:what Dave said. Yes, you can plug those holes up with the ring inserts. You will want to fill those holes solidly with a well fitted plug or polymer patch. Then, drill it out to fit the floor ring hardware.
