Spent another day on my back in tight space preparing hull for bottom paint, grinding and gel coating. A few days away from painting bottom. Unfortunately I did too good a job of cleaning water line prior to discovering that most reasonably priced bottom paints are not white (color of hull). I bought gray so I need to identify and tape waterline before going back in water. I realize line will depend on equipment, but any suggestion for locating and taping line on O'Day 19. Now I wish I had sprung extra money for white bottom paint. Thanks for any suggestions.

I dunno about on a 19, but with my 192, the POs had painted about 1" below the bottom of the boot stripe.
Can you get it launched, and take a grease pencil with you and lean over the side of the launch ramp dock, get marks on it every few feet, then pull it out for final painting? You could fair it while taping...

Basically lines are completely gone although now that i learn there may be no other way, I will look harder for any evidence. If i put in water to mark with wax pencil and pull immediately I will need to paint at launch site which will be a pain .... although if its 90% painted I could finish it there if hull dry enough for quick turn around. Maybe i could also lean boat enough when I replace it on trailer that i can paint area where hull rested on trailer pads.
