Hi All,
I'm most of the way through putting a new Balmar xt170 alternator and mc-618 into my 1993 40.5 with a yanmar 4jh2e engine (this will go with my lithium battery bank). I've got most everyting done except I can't tell which wire is the ignition wire?
There are 3 wires connected to the starter:
1 the battery cable
2 a red wire from the instrument loom... i presume this feeds power to the pannel and powers the buzzer when the key is in 'on'
3 and a black or silver or yellow wire that connects to the top of the starter, i assume this is the relay to engage the starter
Am i looking in the wrong place? Is there a separate igninition is on wire elsewhere in the loom? I tried to read the service manual wring diagram but i don' know how to tell what panel type i have and also, i'm not an electrician so i don't actually know how to read one

Has anyone else done this with an idea on what to run?

I also had a coolant leak and have fixed it and am going to replace the ground, but this is the wire loom where it heads into the engine
Best shot i have of my pannel, think its type c?
