Steve:If you are going to make the move, you may as well MOVE UP!If you go to a 30'+ you can get all the amenities. Standing head room, inboard, wheel steering, decent head etc etc. These larger boats are just as easy to sail (sometimes easier) because of the rigging setup. The down sides are obvious longer/taller/deeper mean higher berthing and bigger prices for sails etc. but it is really worth it.
A nice sized boat rigged for solo sailing. Very roomy for a 28 and lots of big boat features; private head/shower combo, aft queen size berth, pressure hot and cold water fresh water system, etc. Comfy for two, cozy for four, sleeps six in a pinch.Good luck.Terry
make sure you think this out as one can spend alot of money on moving up multiple times. we went from never being on a sailboat to buying a 26ft new classic yachts. we kept it for four yrs and moved up to a 34 hunter with nice headroom and all the amenities. In our situation i would not look back at that move. craig
Steve,I just made the jump from h260 to the h356. Lots of things to consider, like never being in a large boat with lots of systems to manage. My wife and I considered smaller boats along the 30' line but loved the layout of the h356 so took the plunge. Sails like a dream and we know we can go anywhere the sails will take us. We have been trailering for 15 years and it feels very strange not having a boat on my bumper. Which is something you loose, not being able to take your boat anywhere you choose.JimS/V Java
I went from hobie 18 to hunter 290 really same as the 306 and we love it easy to sail plenty of room have had six people on day sailing no problem,I almost got the 260 but so happy I got my 290 no trailing we love just walking on board at the dock its a real pleasure,it does cost more but well worth it . nick maggio
