I will have to move a jib halyard restrainer that I mounted on my H23 mast this spring. Email me if anyone is interested about the particulars of this problem. My question is: I could "reinforce" the pop rivet holes that will not be used. Refilling the holes would reduce the un-supported section of the mast by putting material in the open holes. If the mast were a pressure vessel, you would reinforce openings to maintain the overall strength integrety of the vessel. Does anyone think that the mast should be viewed the same way you would view a pressure vessel. They are both under stress and load conditions. Does anyone think I should do this. If I do, would anyone suggest puting a rivet in the hole just to take up the space of the hole? What about marine tex? Welding the holes shut? Ignore the holes? What have others done and what suggestions do you have. Thanks,Bill Leathenbleathen@aol.com
