Figurehead???

I've been thinking of carving (I am a professional wood sculptor) a figurehead to fit under the bowsprit Of my IP. Anyone have any experience with a project like this? I would check with the factory and see where they would recommend fastening. Now... to convince my wife to pose. I don't think so. Would appreciate any help.

you should be able to conjure up her form without any modeling by now--how many years married are you now??? lol...

. it can be done--i had a friend place one on a giles design ketch back in 1998..lol..i gave him the crystal he had to keep diving to find , as it kept falling out of her navel..LOL.... good luck!!!

If you don't have a 100' boat. Don't do it it. the one on the Catalina 30 is the joke of our dock...... heh heh. It's nice, but it's just wrong.....

I kinda agree

With the previous post. Unless it's very small, is just going to look totally out of place. You might also keep in mind that most marinas charge by the foot, and a figure head is probably going to add to your docking costs. I have a couple of friends who's davits cost them a few extra bucks every month.

What about quarter boards? There's a 23 or 25 foot trailerable cutter with a sprit that has them and they look ok. Can't remember what brand but there are at least 2 in our marina.
