Has anybody had any success making a replacement holding tank out of fiberglass? If so, what type of resin do you recommend?

You're asking the wrong person

I consider fiberglass and/or resin coated plywood tanks to be unnecessarily heavy, and if you count what your time is worth, to cost at least 5x what you can buy a top quality polyethylene tank for. And unless exceptionally well sealed, fiberglass tanks can absorb liquid. Before you start this project, check out Ronco plastics. They offer more than 400 different shapes and sizes, their tanks are 50% thicker than any on the market except SeaLand and their prices are extremely reasonable. Plus, you can special order any of their tanks with the fittings installed to your specs. Ronco's website is at http://www.ronco-plastics.com

Pull up the web site www.westsystem. com and they can help you with this. The tec. I talked to said they build tanks all the time and have never had a problem with them. You just have to follow their directions carefully if tou want to have any success. If you do the work yourself ,the cost will be in your favor. I have allready figured the cost for a holding tank that will fit a special way and it is allot less than a boughten one
