Anyone know where I can get a replacement helm seat for a Hunter 40.5? The factory says they no longer have the mold. Photos of what the seat looks like would be helpful, too. Thanks!

I have no idea where you can get a factory helm seat. Maybe from a boat boneyard? However here are some pictures of it. I built a BBQ propane holder into the bottom of my seat. Don't do it; it was a failed idea.

I think I would build a seat out of wood unless you are good with fiberglass construction. And I would build the seat with a slight hump so that on a heel you can sit more upright. The factory seat has a depression which is fine for motoring but not so much for sailing.

The hook-shaped cutouts on each side at the front of the seat are so that you can hang the seat on the stern pushpit rail near the curved tube area.

Thanks so much, Rich. I appreciate the pix. I'll see if I can find a boat boneyard as you suggest. If not, I'll try to make the seat. Good thought about the hump vs. depression. You'd think Hunter would be aware of that.
