With a 1998 H170 my annual spring job of repairing new cracks on the gunwale is staring me in the face again. I've become pretty good at repairing the cracks the recommended way with the Devcon plastic welder, etc. But at this point I'm comtemplatimg just glassing the whole gunwales - tired of messing with it. Anyone out there had any experince fiberglassing the ACP?

Here is an article I found....

Edwin, I have never made the kind of repair you are talking about, but here is a link to someone who is making repairs to a 170 using fiberglass. http://www.sailing-obsession.com/ACPrepair.htm

216 not 170

Edwin, I too was going to refer you to this link. The boat pictured is a Hunter 216 belonging to a H.D.A.S.C member by the name of Dennis. He has a pretty good web site (http://www.sailing-obsession.com/) that may be of interest to you and others with several good post about the 170. (170 manual and others) A few years ago my boat was badly damaged with deep scratches and holes through the deck. When Dennis finished the repair I could not believe my eyes. No evidence of any damage or repairs, looked as good as the day I bought it. Good luck with your project, show some pictures of the before and after, we would all like to see the results. Glenn
