I need new fenders (have none now). Our Hunter 25.5 will be slipped in a protected marina on an inland lake? Any comments on size shape?

What Are Others Using

Bill I'm on the south end Carlyle Lake. As you stated the marina's are well protected. I use three 8 x 27. Two on the the dock finger side and one for protection from my slip mate. Haven't accually needed that one yet. We hang them from the tow rail using carabiners. Don't forget to give some thought to were you will store these while under way. I throw one the the anchor locker and the other two hang in a mesh bag on the life lines. Jeff H33.5 1993

Boulder (Jeff)

Thanks, Jeff. That helps a lot. Only two between the finger and the boat. I would have thought more, but I suppose that it depends on how the boat is secured in the slip. (back to the books and snooping around.) We're going to slip at Boulder our first year. Then we might move south. But we also live near Belleville and don't have much of a drive. Best regards, Bill

I always just used the chart from the west advisor at westmarine.com. I see alot of people that say get as big as you can get, but these things can get expesive really quick and can be a real pain in the ass to stow. Unless you go out and buy a nice stainless rack for a few hundred more. Has anyone ever had a fender fail on them. I have talked to many boaters and have been boating for years, haven't heard of any yet. I would be more worried about the dock lines failing.
