Good morning everyone. We are shopping for a new windlass for Nepenthe and have found several manufacturers that make a Vertical windlass product that seem to be a good match. One of the manufacturers, (Quick) has a product that is comparable from a performance perspective to the Maxwell and Simpson Lawrence that we have been looking at however the price is substantially lower. The Quick product is different in some ways from a hardware standpoint (Chrome plated brass drum vs stianless, and aluminum base versus Stainless) which account for some of the cost however it still seams to be a good value. Practical sailor did review one of the Quick windlass's favorably but I wanted to ask if anyone had any experience with Quick versus the other manufacturers and what your feedback would be.
