Hello,

I have a H 336 1995. I was planning to install a feathering prop. Wanted to get feedback on the various brands out there. KIWIPROP seeems popular.
Looking forward to your recommendations.

Amir,
Just finished my second season with the Kiwi prop, H356. Still love the prop. My wife really noticed the difference in backing up into the slip with it. Lots of power in reverse and just little prop walk. It feathers out very quickly and believe it has added a 1/2 knot or better to the forward speed. A very well made product for the price...

BTW, we had the standard 3-blade prop before switching...

We too had a three-blade prop that I switched out with an Autostream. We picked up about a knot or so under sail, and the prop walk is practically non existant. I notice the split second of prop walk when I place the boat in reverse when at the dock, and it goes away so quickly that I don't have to correct for it.

I agree with Jim that the Kiwi Prop is a very good product. I installed mine at the start of the 2009 season on my H355 and have been very pleased with it's proformance. If you have a 2 bladed prop currently installed you will not believe the differance that the Kiwi will make.

I am not satisfied with the KIWI on my H36 2008. It super under motor when it comes to speed and wibrations, but it is not fethering well and the prop and axel is turning when I am sailing. A part was broken this spring and I had it repased but it did not work any better.

Perhaps the reason that the prop will not feather is that it needs lubrication. Kiwi has recently changed the grease that they recommend to Mobil XHP222 since the Shell Nautilus Marine Grease that they originally suggested has been discontinued.
In any case if you still having problems I would suggest that contact Kiwi at kiwiprops@xtra.co.nz I have found them to be very helpful in answering questions.

I would still suggest that the contact Kiwi but directly and perhaps copy the importer just to keep them in teh loop.
Scott your question on maintenance should be addressed also by Kiwi since I'm sure that questions has been addressed before.

We've has a Kiwiprop for four years on our 376. It's great motoring and sailing. Prop walk was unchanged with the Kiwi. We didn't pull our boat for three years and the lube on the prop lasted that long. Sometime you need to briefly shift the transmission into reverse to stop the shaft from spinning, then shift back into neutral. We are happy with the prop except the pitch is slightly too great in reverse and not adjustable.

Might want to call Gary Beck at Martec. I believe they are the importer for Autostream in the US. They supply many of the props for Hunter so there's a good chance they have the specs and can recommend the right one for the 33.
