Annapolis- December 17, 2009. Fawcett Boat Supplies announced today that it will be moving from its downtown Annapolis Store (right on the waterfront) to a new location at 919 Bay Ridge Road, Annapolis. The new location on Bay Ridge Avenue is across the street from the Giant Supermarket near the intersection of Edgewood Road. The move is scheduled to take place in January 2010 and the business anticipates being closed for 1 week to complete the move. At just over 12,000 square feet, the new property is larger than the current downtown location and includes additional space for offices, outboard engine service and inflatable boat repair.

Any idea what's going into Fawcett's current building?

Good question Doug, I remember that to be a pretty nice building in a great location. It will be over a two mile one-way hike from the boat show to Fawcett's now. Wonder if WM might move down there?

Not sure who owns Fawcett's these days, but I would guess they'll make a fortune selling their current "Ego Alley" waterfront property, and be able to build a much bigger place with the profits while still pocketing a nice piece of change. The area they are moving to is becoming a major boating supply/service area.

Today's (Saturday) Capital paper has a front-page article on the move, but really does not say much more. For those familiar, the new address is presently the Canvas Creations building. I noticed the C&C Liquors next door has been closed for a while. (Not to worry- there are PLENTY of liquor stores in Annapolis.) The present owners of Fawcetts rented the waterfront property from the people they bought Fawcetts from. There has been no report of what is to be done with that property (valued at 2.8 million). Years ago it was an ACME food store. The new location puts Fawcetts and West about a half-mile apart. If you have a Fawcetts frequent-buyer card, you can get a decent price break.

The local TV station is saying Annapolis is predicted to be the highest snowfall area from this blizzard. "It's beginning to look alot like Christmas."
