Faulty propane sensor

I have bought an old Cal 29 that has a Fireboy Xintex propane sensor installed. The alarm keeps going off despite the fact that the propane is switched off at source. Anyone experience with Xintex sensors?

I've had two of them, had no problems. The sensors do go bad eventually on any system. It also will alert on other hydrocarbons, I had a can of paint leak once that set mine off. Gasoline and other flammables will too.
If its old it probably needs a new sensor head.
They list their MS 2 website for $99.02, don't know if it's the same as older models.
They're located right here in Grand Rapids, Mi

I have no affiliation with the company, just a satisfied customer.

is it hardwired or battery operated? low batt voltage/poor connection may cause it to sound... as will a dirty/dusty/contaminated sensor.

Propane sensors time expire and have to be replaced, I believe it around 5 years. As well if they get really wet then they gave to be replaced. Typically when they go they give a false + signal.

Time expire?

I never heard that before! I have had our Xintex Fireboy installed for nearly 10 years with the original sensor. It passes the self test every time I turn the batteries on - should I be concerned?
