Hi All,

I just purchased a 2001 Hunter 410. The finish on the faucets are corroded and need to be replaced ,but the only way I see to do that is by removing the counter tops which seem to be glued or caulked in place. I did find an article about replacing the galley faucet by cutting a hole in the back of the cabinet. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Perry

While the access panel would be an option if your galley sink is situated in an accessible place, I used the brute force method on our H340. Since most of the old faucet was plastic, a sharp knife helped me get it loose. For the sink in the head, I did have to (carefully) pull up the counter top, which was held down only by adhesive caulk.

Funny coincidence, in Stu's link, that boat was our next dock neighbor until they moved to the coast.

I replaced all 5 faucets on my 2002 H410 without cutting any holes. Galley sink accessible from the underside. Likewise with the two vanities. AFT head shower reachable through small removable panel on aft side of shower divider wall. On the forward shower remove the screws holding the corian to the fiberglass understructure. Slice the caulk with a razor knife and it will come off enough to work on. I'm of saying you don't have to be a contortionist to get at the fasteners but it is doable.

Ditto, did the same. Replaced all except showers with single lever faucets. Used a "bar" type faucet for the galley. Glad to provide pics if interested.

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to have to take a hard look again. I didn't see any way to reach those faucets to do anything but touch them, especially the ones in the showers. I didn't notice screws holding down the corian. Must be recessed with plugs on top? Any pictures showing access would certainly help. Stu, I did see your article. That's my backup plan if I can't get to them any other way. Thanks again.

Mulf and Sailgunner, how did you get a wrench to the back of the sink from underneath? I'd love to see your photos please! I just ordered new faucets for the galley and both heads and am making sure I do it the easiest way possible! thank you!
