On my Catalina 36 (1989)I've a furling jib. For heavy weather I want to fasten a removable innerstay on my boat for a storm jib to use in windforce 6/7 and up. Has anyone done this already? I'm specially interested in: 1. Where did (or should) you attach the stay (top of the mast of spreader) 2. What did you design to attach the stay on deck and where was it positioned? 3. What was the size of your storm jib and what was your experience in practice using it? Your experience or an idea is appreciated very much! Paul Ruhe

storm stay

I have a C30 and I sail on a lake with alot of tacking.I wanted to run a stay from the mast head down to my bow sprit and use a eye bolt from defender that is 9/16 thread. Then replace one of the bow sprit bolts with The eye. Then use a defender stay kit.The kit looks great in the book but Its about 500 bucks I thought i would try a ss turn buckel and keep the sail baged on deck.what about a gail sail? looks neet and it slips over your RF sail when rolled up .Its about 850 for your size boat John
