Dear Fellow Sailors:

I need to fasten a new burgee to my spreader wire. Does any one know how to do this and what I need?

Your response appreciated.

Best,
Mark

I have small block lashed to the upper shroud, just under the spreader,, and a continuous 1/8 line run through that down to the turnbuckle. Then I can run up what ever small flag I need,, such as a courtesy flag when in another country. Needed in Bahamas, an Mexico. And I use those clips that Calif Ted shows

Most boats have a small block mounted on the underside of the starboard spreader. Some have them on both, so they can fly things like your burgee on the correct side, to port. Starboard side is usually reserved for a quarantine (is there scarlet fever aboard?) or a courtesy flag of the country you are visiting.
Often I see the national flags of the guests aboard, also on the port side.
