A group of friends are looking at something fun, fast and used to race on. We all chip in and buy a decent and fairly competitive vessel. A Farr 40 was suggested. Any comments on that or other similar race boats that might be considered.

More Affordable Racing Option
Having a group to all participate as equal partners offers a great way to "go big" without going into "big debt". Each person puts up $50,000. We have an annual fee that goes into the warchest. We properly maintain the boat and never cut corners with regards to repairs. The real trick is to get all 6 to be on the same page before one dollar is spent. Everything is documented (contract) with the option of an escape clause (with $ penality) to the member who leaves early. There will be a beginning and an end to the time we own the boat. At the end of the day, we all become great friends, have a great time racing, and and drink lots of beer after a day on the water.
