I purchased a couple of Hella fans to add to the berths on my Hunter 33. I was expecting a Cigarette light type plug with them but they come with just bare wires. What is the best way to wire these things in??

New wiring...

to each fan location run to an unused circuit breaker would be the way to go. You should have some means of switching off battery power to them even though they draw so little current. Without an available unused breaker, you could probably add them to the cabin lighting circuit breaker with little risk (but still run new wire to each).

May never get installed if you have to run wires.

If it was on our boat, the fans would never get installed if I had to fish new wires back to the panel. I just tapped into the circuit for the lights. I usually use these fans when I am NOT using lights so I found no advantage to even thinking about a seperate circuit. Be sure to test the wiring before you crimp anything so way you will be sure that they are not wired backward.

installation, mine are tied into cabin lights. Since the fans have their own switch as do the lights, it all works out great.

Do it correctly.

If you really want to do it correctly, you may want to use a plug for each fan. This make the removal much easier too. They can also be moved for one location to another if needed.

I tied mine into existing wiring

I tied mine into the existing wiring for the reading lights. The drain is so minimal, it doesn't affect the light. Hint: Use butt splices.

solder vs splice

When I did mine, I soldered the wires together, then dipped them in "Dip-it". The wrench handle coating stuff. They are held together by the solder, and are air/water tight with the dip-it. No problems tying them into the coach top lights.

Fans

I just wired two yesterday on my H30. I ran wires to the place I wanted to install the fans, then I used bullet crimp connectors, male & female so that I could disconnect and connect a new fan if needed. if you install the connectors opposite each other you can't plug them in backwards. Just my 2¢
