Fan locations on 26/260?

I was wondering where some of you have mounted fans on your 26 or 260? I'm looking for ideas. I have one mounted on the starboard side, just aft of the galley, hung from above to provide some air in the aft berth. For this location I used one of Hella's better models. I have two cheaper Hella's that are looking for a place to reside. I'd like them to be in the area of the table and V-berths. Any ideas? various locations

Two items need to be considered. First the fan needs to be in a place as it will not strike heads, hands, face and so forth. The next of course is location for ventilation but finally can you get the wires there> Crazy Dave Condon

Yup. That's why I'm asking

I figure some has to have added fans to their 26/260, so I (we) might as well learn from their experience. The Hella fans I bought can fold 90 degrees and rotate, which helps get them out of the way when not needed. Still I can't seem to find a good location for them in the forward part of the cabin. One on each side of the light over the table.

Guest rip offs for $16 each. Wires are attached to the lighting circut. Gauge is heavy enough for the load. alan

Think Portable

Ron, I bought two fans, and two teak mounting bases for a large winch. I screwed the fans to the bases, and wired them with marine cable, with a marine cigarette lighter plug at the end. Then, I had two 12-volt outlets installed on the forward side of the galley sink cabinet. When I need fans, I plug them in, turn on the "12-volt outlets" breaker, and place the fans wherever I need them. The bases have rubber bottoms (the non-skid stuff) to keep them from wandering, and to protect surfaces. When not in use, we store them below the seats. Ray

We had 4

On my old 1996 H26 we had 4 12V Jet Fans. Check WestMarine's 2003 catolog on page 475. These fold up nicely to the cabin ceiling when not in use. I hooked them into the lighting fixtures they were located near, fishing the wires in the cabin roof. Two were on each side of the compression post which was great for dining and drawing air through the boat. One in the aft berth right above the port which allows the fan to draw in fresh air. The last one got more use than I expected in the head. It was hung to the port side of the light. We would regularly run them over night with enough power to start the outboard in the morning. Jeff

Jet Fans...That's them

The Jet fans in the West catalog are the very fans I have. I'm pretty sure they were under the Hella brand name when I bought them last year. The Hella Turbo Fan is the one I have mounted above the aft berth. Thanks to all for the suggestions. Ron Mehringer s/v Hydro-Therapy
