Fall means winding down the sailing in lots of areas, but at least the colors are spectacular. Time to show your pix! Here is one of Bayfield WI from the 2nd spreader as I took off the lazy jacks in prep for pulling the main.

These were taken this past Saturday during my final race of the season. Commodore Cup race 3 of 4. Will be hauling on Thursday as I need to tidy her up a bit for a prospective buyer.

Camera on the phone really does not do the day justice.

October ...

My favorite month for sailing.

I thought about taking a photo yesterday of the brilliant red & yellow leaves juxtaposed against an absolutely brilliant blue sky. We didn't see a cloud all day. Alas, I was in our driveway splitting wood in preparation for the winter. I have to put away 6 cords and it is back-breaking labor that is wearing very thin. There wasn't a breath of wind for sailing. Unusual for October, but it enabled me to work without angst for not sailing. Late in the afternoon, I enjoyed a couple of beers while drifting on a near-empty lake, watching the sun go down. It reminded me of this day, except without the 15-inches of snow that we had during a surprise October storm 3 years ago.

Gorgeous pictures, everyone! Our leaves are turning late this year, I suspect this weekend we may snap a pic or two for this collection.

October is a bittersweet month; best winds of the year, but each sail brings me so much closer to haul out. We are required to be out by the 1st weekend of November.

In California our leaves are turning from lack of water and 100* temps.
Here is a nice sunset from our MDR Channel cam though.
Love that picture Slackjaw.

I always made my Nancy crazy by sailing the 8 foot depth line and looking at the fall foliage. We only drew 4.5 feet but she was certain that the bottom would reach up and grab the boat.
