My colleague and I stopped at the factory in Alachua last Friday. Despite being late for the tour, we were taken on a personal tour by the production manager. All questions were answered. We saw the process from laying up the hull to attachment of the keel. It is most impressive. They are now adding a layer of kevlar forward of the keel for strength. They do all their own welding, to include the new stainless arch. The deck is attached with 5200, screws and bolts. Definitely worth the stop if you are in the area.

Comparison

Went to the Catalina factory for grins last spring in Woodland Hills, California and was pretty disappointed. My wife and I were led to a balcony over look of the plant and had some production areas "pointed" out to us. We were led through the sail sewing area. Thats about it! I've heard the Hunter tour is great, but don't show up around Christmas as they take some serious down time.
