Simple question: I read your tutorial on replacing the filter in the Facet fuel pump with the NAPA filter. I bought the filter and will be installing it next week and I'm just wondering if the engine will need to be bled after the filter is installed.

Thanks for all the great info!

If you pre-fill the filter you may not have to bleed the system. Holding the filter upright pour fuel into it and let it absorb into the filter medium, after a few minutes tap the filter down and top it off, install and just see what happens.

This method will work most of the time.

Danny,

Assuming that your O'day 35 has a Universal M25 (like mine), bleeding the fuel lines is as simple as opening the fuel bleeder return line (thumbscrew) and turning the key to the ON position... You wait for about 20 seconds while the pump clicks away (pumping fuel) then close the return line. DONE!

This is one of the best features of the M25, and M25-XP.

We just did this with a Universal M-12, Danny. We didn't open anything or pre-fill any of the filters (Hard to do with the engine filter since it is horizontal.) and let the pump run until it stopped. This was after we had changed both primary and secondary filters and replaced the tank of old fuel with fresh.
