Does anyone have any pictures of an EZSteer attached to a Hunter 260? I am curious how it attaches to the rudder post. I do not want it coming out right behind the post as I raise my rudder alot. The system I have made has the connection slightly off center. Thanks, Corky

Slightly off center

Mine is slightly off center to the stbd. It is only off center enough to clear the rudder in the up position. It limits your turning ability in one direction, but not significantly. From a geometry standpoint the more critical issue is how horizontal the rod is installed. The more horizontal it is, the more extension there is for turning the motor. Hope this helps. If you still need a picture let me know & I'll see if I can find one to post.

Take a look in the Photo/Project forum for the 260s. There are a couple different versions pictured. I set my exactly like the pictures in "H260 Engine-Rudder Connection". It has worked very well and doesn't cause any problems with the rudder.

Yes (link included)

In case the picture isn't clear enough. there are two separate pieces that are held together buy two long bolts. There are rubber pads on the inside where it clamps around the post. The install on the engine side pictured here is NOT what I have now. The "screw bands" did not survie hurricane and when I called to get them replaced, EZ-steer said this was a generic KIT and should not have been what I received originally for my Merc 9.9. Hope this helps, Darren

E-Z Steer for H260

Corky, try this link: http://kobernus.com/hunter260_web/upgrades/ezsteer/index.html Works the same for up or down engine. Does not interfere with rudder.

Generic vs Specific E-Z steer systems

Darren, what is supposed to be there instead of the screw bands? Seems like I got the generic kit as well, since I had to go to Home Depot to get the screw bands (mine came with some long plastic cable ties that could not be tightened enough to be functional before snapping). Just bought my EZ-Steer system in July, so I may have to contact them and revisit what they sent me. Mike

More like rudder side...

It's a rubber / plastic coated bracket similar to what is on the rudder side. Much more stable. I don't want to tell you what I looked like while I was trying to put the parts on the engine side while the boat was still in the water!

Is exactly the way I did my 260 even tho mine is a tiller steering model. I simply ran a piece of stainless rod thru the hole in the rudder post and fixed to the end of it, almost hard up against the stern box, the ezi steer ball joint. The ezi steer fitting then clips on and so extends over to the front of the motor. Works perfectly!
