Has anyone added EZ steer to Hunter 23.5? Is it worth the price in handling? I mostly solo, and any help mainly leaving, returning to slip would help.Saw Dan Hill's mod. on his 240,got me thinking.

I use what is called "Tiller Tamer".
here is where to find information about it.

I paid $ 19.99 at the West Marine a few years ago.
I do not use it as it was designed to be installed. I installed the brake on the edge of the cockpit and tie the lines to the tiller. If you mount the brake on the tiller then you can not place the cover back on the tiller.
I will post the photo if you email me haro_b@att.net

One tip

(Re-posting here, since this was the original topic)

I went to the EZ steer manufacturer's web site and found the part number for my boat. I then searched high and low for it from all the dealers. All stated they could not get that specific EZ steer PN from their suppliers. I emailed EZ steer to determine if I could get it directly from them, or if they could find a way for one of their dealers to get it for me, no help.

I found a suitable alternative from Cabela's at a fraction of the cost. It was a snap to install and has been working well for 7 years now.

DJ, you would not believe the difference in close quarter handling with the rudder linked to the motor. Do it and you will wonder why you waited. The tiller tamer is a poor mans autopilot of which I have installed also and use often but it has no bearing on maneuverability. Get the EZ steer or some other arrangement, you wont regret the upgrade.
