extra rudder (behind prop !)

Hi All,

Around 35 Vega's in Holland and Germany have an extra rudder which
was installed by Arend Schram. It makes the Vega a bit faster and a
lot easier to steer. For the ones of you who are interested in the
working-principle of the extra rudder I posted some pictures on the
files section of the Yahoo-group.

Hi All

I have seen this item working well and certainly makes a difference in
close quarters. The laws of physics state that it cant make it faster in
a straight line but tacking is certainly a lot faster so overall you
have a small advantage. In the last IFR I think three of the top five
had the "Help-Rudder".

They are available form Arend Schram in Holland or myself, Steve Birch,
in the UK

it seems to be a good idea with the rudder-system. Did you install it
yourself? What is the price for the whole system and where can I get
it?

Hi Michale

The Help Rudder is availablein Holland and the UK. It is made by Arend
Schram and is of very high quality. It can be fitted by Arend in Holland
but can be installed by anyone with some fiberglass experience and a
little skill. It takes two days to complete and comes complete with
everything you need including the epoxy and glass mat. Full instructions
come with the kit. The price is about £900. If you live close to Arend
(Den Bosch) then he will install the system for a price. His work is
very good and he has installed most of the systems in Holland.
