Extra propane storage

Hello all,
We have recently purchased an 1999 Island Packet and plan to install a Dickinson propane heater. The propane locker on the boat holds two 10 lb tanks. Our stove is propane. We would like to carry a 3rd Xtra tank for switching out , and I’m looking for suggestions on the best way to do that. Would we simply tie it to the rails on deck? Or is there a special storage solution that is more attractive and safe? This does not need to be a functioning propane locker, with gas lines and all. Just a decent safe way to carry an extra 10lb tank. We have tons on room in our cockpit lockers. Is the someway to build a safe storage locker for propane inside , since the tank would not be hooked up?
Thanks so much for any ideas or suggestions.

Your tanks are not that big. Put it on the stern rail and be done with it. I have done propane locker inside the cockpit locker thing and it was disastrous. You would still need to vent it so that means a hole in the boat. Heal the boat and water floods propane locker. No matter what fitting is on the hull.
