Interior & Exterior Finishes.
John:Daly's, like most companies make different finishes for the interior and the exterior. It really depends on what you like and how much maintenance you want to put into the finish.I personally find nothing wrong with Cetol Light(watch out they're already coming to get me). If you want to refinish several times per year (especially in FL.) one of the varnishes may be OKAY for you.The key to getting a good finish with Cetol is to do good surface prep. and get enough coats on to begin with (4-5 minimum). Then you should do some light sanding and apply an occasional coat 2-3 times per year.If I lived in your clime, I would get covers for the hand rails. This gives either varnish or cetol a much better chance of survival. You could also get some sunbrella covers made for the combing covers too. We have had a cover for the companionway on our 1985 H'31 for years. These face south and I have only refinished the board once in about 7-8 years. The point being is keep the sun off the wood as much as possible and your maintenance will be greatly reduced.PS: your other option is to let it go natural.
