Catalina 310 Niagara on the Lake
Just purchased our first boat, 2001 Catalina 310, last October. I have scrubbed and washed the hull but it still seems to have a dull look to it, compared to new boats. Can you please give me some ideas and products that I can use to bring back that old Lustre. Thanks Jeff

You'll get lots of different opinions

but I wouldn't recommend anything other than a good cleaning and waxing for a boat of your vintage - it's not that old. Try this: http://www.pbase.com/mainecruising/buffing__waxing It's one of the best descriptions of how to clean your hull properly that I've ever read. Your topic comes up from time to time, this has proven to be one of the best answers.

Good Wax

I would try a small area of a good wax to see if it brings it up to what you want, it should. If not I would suggest a very light/mild rubbing compound and then wax and see if that gives you the result you want, it should be more than enough. I use Flagshp Wax in a black bottle which seems to work great, do two coats of wax. You can get it at a marine supply store or Auto parts store ie Pep Boys.
