abye not have to do anything for five years but sounds an awful lot of work
for just the woodwork. I would just clean each season and oil with a marine
wood oil. Easy to do and satisfying.

refinishing the outside as described by a professional wooden boat builder of considerable reputation will entail sanding and the coating with epoxy and resin(3 coats)and then you won't have to continually varnish or oil for approximately 5 years.

I agree or just use a good oil and just keep adding coats every now and
then... looks good, tastes good and by golly does you good...

Unless they are now making UV resistant epoxies, you will still have to use
a varnish with UV inhibitors on top of the epoxy. I have extensive
experience with epoxy resin, although it is not current, and I would use
only varnish, and forget the epoxy.
