Well the first year is about up and recieved an offer for extending the warranty "stem to stern" for another four years. Anybody got any experience with this? It's been around for awhile, relatively innexpensive considering what it covers but, and that's a big but, what about the actual experience. Anybody out there experienced with the extended warranty please let me know something how it's working in your experience.

These companies are not in business ....

Rob: These companies are not in business for their health. They are in business to make money. And the money they make is from YOUR pocket. What are they going to cover v.s. what is already covered by your new boat warranty? What is the cost?

Got one on our car

It cost about $1000 and we paid it off in payments over a year. Shortly after paying it off, the parent company (underwriter?) went bankrupt. It was sold through a company called Warrenty Gold. The court case was in Texas and we periodically get incomprehensible notices in regard to our rights in the legal process. I do not expect that we can count on anything from this policy. Luckily, we haven't needed it and never filed a claim. I suspect we wasted our money. They have quite a sales pitch though. I will give them that. Lots of bragging about their four star rating. My opinion is that insurance is the second oldest "profession".

More Info on extended warranty

Well it seems to be blessed by Hunter themselves and actually could have been part of the original sale. The cost is $1900 for the additonal 4 years of coverage. It covers everything that was originally on the boat (nothing I have added which isn't much) The deductable is $50 per occurence and it seems to me that I am likely to utilze $1900 over the next 4 years. I use my boat year around so the systems get used fairly hard. I do overnight off shore races up to 300 nautical miles so the odds are that I would get my money back, however the reputation and experience is the 1900 dollar question.
