Extendable trailer brake line

Looking for advice on how to rig your brake lines on an extended tongue trailer so that you don't have to disconnect and re-bleed them after launching. We just had the brakes and tongue replaced, but the brake line is rigid and doesn't have the 4-6' extra to remain connected to the extended tongue. Are there some kind of quick release nipples like an air compressor hose to put on the line, or should we have just had extra flexible line built into the closed hydraulic system? Please Advise!

there is such a thing as a quick disconnect. I have never seen one for a brake line, and certainly not in any trailer parts catalog.So, I made for myself a collapsable frame that allows the brake line to extend with the tongue. You could alternatively just get a long flex-hose, but I think too much flex hose will reduce the braking power.Anyway, I do not think the "industry" has a solution, so you are on your own. Like the rest of us!

Hello,The extendable hitch I have comes with it's own trailer coupler. You disconnect the coupler used for towing, extend the extend a hitch (which stowes under the main hitch), connect it, then you are all set.Visit extend-a-hitch.com for more info.

quick disconnect

You can get the disconnect you need at Champion Trailers or DHM Trailers. Both carry the Brass type.I have used one for over a year with no problems whatsoever and no leaks.Ken

Just bought a new Trailrite Trailer for my C-22.The Quick Disconnect at the coupling works like a champ. No problems, no drips.Campy

Trailer cost

Campy...what did the new trailer cost you? Mine is an '81 with surge brakes, but the extendable toungue was added later so the surge brakes are disconnected and don't work...not sure whether to toss the whole thing and buy new, get someone to fix the surge brakes, or look into change to electrical.
