Exhausted and choking

Oday 272 LE with 10 hp Universal Diesel - great boat - has leak in exhaust at the connection of the exhaust pipe and the piece that connects to the exhause hose and the engine water hose. Leaking at the Exhaust pipe / other pipe connection. Cannot determine how these 2 pipes connect nor how to cure the leak. The smaller pipe from below is loose at the connection to the larger exhause pipe coming from above. I can wiggle to smaller pipe, thought the larger exhaust pipe feels in tact at the connection. Help - Exhausted

can you post a picture of where it is leaking?

Try searching the site (ask all sailors)for "exhaust elbow" or "exhaust riser" or "mixing elbow"

Lots of times people just make these up from black iron pipe and niipples or have a nipple welded into a piece of pipe. It depends on what you have.

Peel off the insulation and see what components were used to fabricate the exhaust system......useulley the pipe has hose at the last section before entering the water lift muffler so you should be able to start at the hose an work back-wards unscrewing sections if their screwed into place
