Exhaust system question

I will need to replace my muffler sometime this year, but before removing the quarter berth panel, I was hoping that somebody could tell me what to expect on the other side -- just how does the exhaust exit the boat. Also, on the transom there are two chrome vents -- are those part of the exhaust system?thanks

exhaust exits on port side near the transom . the vents on the transom are exhaust for the engine compartment. hope this helps.

easy access

in my '79, there is a wood hatch on the cockpit side of the quarterberth with two latches at the top and no fasteners at the bottom. Takes a minute to get in there, once you've cleared out fenders and lifejackets! Rubber hoses connect the mixing elbow to a SS muffler, and the muffler to the exhaust, as Gary described it.
