exhaust manifold removal universal m25

I have to remove the exhaust manifold on my Catalina 30 to drill out and replace the stud holding the alternator bracket. It looks like a fairly simple procedure once the cabinetry is removed and the exhaust is unhooked. If anyone has done this, I would appreciate any advice. I know the things that look easy on a boat usually turn into a major project.Thanks, John

Two years ago I upgraded the original alternator bracket on my M25 to the newer stronger one. Is that what you are doing? I didn't have to do what you are saying. I was able to carefully remove the bolts. If you cannot would a 90 degree drill help? I would be very careful about drilling into the engine itself and the cramped quarters you are working under.
