Anyone got a idea on how to install a exhaust hose on to my gen set? The elbow has a lip on it and the hose won't expand to fit the hose. I do have the right dia. hose.

Heat

Heat some water (a measuring cup will do) in the microwave or on the stove. Get it to boiling. Then CAREFULLY dip the end of the hose in the water and quickly slip it over the fitting. It usually works.

hair dryer

Use a hair dryer to soften the end of the hose. A heat gun is too hot and will scorch it. Works for removing hoses, too.

An (almost) never-fail method...

As someone else suggested, use a blow dryer to heat the hose...and be patient...it does take a little time. Lubricate both the inside of the hose and nipple...you don't want to use any oil or grease, 'cuz the last thing you want is a permanently lubricated hose connection that can work its way off the fitting over time. Most books will tell you to use dish soap, but KY surgical jelly works MUCH better. It's water soluble, so it dries out...and it's slipperier than anything else I've found.
